I have been asked the question many times"Why do you want to be a speech pathologist?" Since before I started college I always knew I wanted to become part of a profession where I would be able to help individuals. A person's ability to speak and communicate is one of the most important skills to have. I am very lucky that I have never had any problems or disorders with my speech and would like to take my good fortune to help individuals who need it.
I believe becoming a speech pathologist will be a very rewarding and exciting career as I will be able to work with so many types of people. I am a very hardworking and dedicated person and hope to make a difference in other people's lives!

- I am a junior at The College of New Jersey majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Communication Disorders. I am planning on attending graduate school for Speech Pathology once I graduate in May 2010. I have been working with children for over 8 years, many of whom have needed speech therapy. I have been working at a summer day camp for the past 8 years with many types of children, including those with special needs. For the past 2 years I have been volunteering on campus to help mentally disabled students. I have also started observing at a speech clinic and cannot wait until I am able to actually help individuals on my own! I am very patient and caring when it comes to helping others with a skill. Also I am always dedicated to my work!
